Terrifying moment man attacks police officers with a knife

A man is behind bars after allegedly lunging at two police officers with a 20cm knife outside a Sydney police station.

The incident occurred outside Eastwood Police Station in Sydney’s northwest about 3am on Thursday when a male and female officer were returning to the station.

The 28-year-old approached the male officer from behind and lunged at him several times with the knife with the officer managing to block the attacker’s arm, police said.

The attacker fled after being Tasered by one of the officers without effect, and after a short pursuit was Tasered again and arrested.

Police say the incident is not believed to be terror-related.

He was taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with attempted murder.

NSW police said the male officer wasn’t hurt but “shaken” after the incident.

The 28-year-old was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court later on Thursday.
