Terrifying moment girl taken away by kite at festival
Video has captured the moment a three-year-old girl was lifted in to the air after becoming tangled in the strings of a kite.
The unidentified girl was taking part in a kite festival Sunday (local time) in the seaside town of Nanlioao in Taiwan, when she was caught up by a giant, long-tailed orange kite and lifted several metres into the air.
Video shot at the scene showed her twisting several times above a crowd of adults who struggled to pull the kite back to earth.
The little girl fell to the ground amid a crowd of surprised onlookers.
News reports said the girl was frightened and suffered only minor cuts in the incident.
A Hsinchu city government official told local media that a rogue wind blew at the site causing the tail of the kite to wrap around the waist of the child.
Festival activities were suspended as a safety precaution after the incident.
