Ash Barty stuns fans after heartwarming engagement announcement

Australian tennis superstar Ash Barty has delighted fans after announcing her engagement to partner of four years Garry Kissick.

The World No.1 has enjoyed a marvellous year after securing five titles in 2021, which included her maiden Wimbledon grand slam.

Barty opted not to travel to Mexico for the WTA Finals and the World No.1 took some much needed rest after remaining on the international Tour following the Australian Open.

And to top off a brilliant 2021, Barty took to Instagram and announced her engagement to her long-term partner Kissick.

"Future husband," Barty wrote, accompanied with a photo of her, Kissick and her new ring.

Kissick shared an image on his account, which included the date they got engaged on November 15.

"Congratulations, both!" the Women's Tennis Association wrote.

"Congratulations to you both!" Tennis Australia added.

Kissick and Barty met at Brookwater Golf Club in 2016.

Earlier this year, Barty revealed her heartbreak after being forced to leave Kissick at home in Australia when she made her way overseas.

With strict Covid-19 restrictions in place in Australia, Barty said she feared she wouldn't be able to see her family again until the very end of the year.

But the World No.1 was joined in the UK by Kissick in June as she prepared for her tilt at the Wimbledon title.

And Barty was able to celebrate the crowning moment of her career with her now fiancee as she won Wimbledon after defeating Karolina Pliskova in a compelling three-set final.

And the couple delivered an unforgettable moment as Barty cried tears of joy in Kissick's arms in the stands of Wimbledon.

Barty was back in Australia not long after the US Open after opting out of the WTA Finals.
