Teens' chilling joke on video days after dad is murdered
WARNING — GRAPHIC CONTENT: A teenage couple filmed themselves joking about “murdering somebody” on a mobile phone video just days before they were charged with killing one of their parents.
Sierra Halseth, 16, and her boyfriend Aaron Guerrero, 18, from Las Vegas, Nevada, are accused of murdering her dad, Daniel Halseth, 45, in April.
His body was found in his garage on April 9 and the teens were arrested on April 13 after going on the run, a court has heard, according to FOX5 Las Vegas.
The mobile phone footage was one of more than 70 pieces of evidence submitted to court this week, the publication said.
"Welcome to our YouTube channel...day 3 after murdering somebody," Guerrero can be heard saying in the video.
"Whoa!" Halseth laughed. "Don't put that on camera."
"It was worth it," Guerrero says.
The pair also make several sexually explicit comments, the publication reported.
Teens allegedly set dad on fire, tried to dismember him
Police say Guerrero and Halseth had been dating but when their parents learned of their plans to run away with each other, both families forbid them from seeing one another.
Investigators claim the teens stabbed Daniel Halseth to death before trying to set him on fire and dismember him, Las Vegas’ 8 News Now reported.
Daniel Halseth's body was discovered after his mum and ex-wife became concerned they hadn't heard from him.
During the days before the 45-year-old’s body was found, police say Guerrero and Halseth used her dad’s bank card to withdraw money and were allegedly seen on CCTV footage buying a saw, lighter fluid, gloves and bleach.
Officers also claim they found a blood-soaked rug in the backseat of Daniel Halseth’s car, which the teens allegedly used as a getaway vehicle.
Guerrero and Halseth have been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, arson, robbery and credit or debit card fraud, the publication said.
Halseth’s mum is a former Nevada state senator. Her parents are divorced.
