Teenager, 17, dies after ute crashes into tree

Two people have died in separate crashes in northern Queensland, including a 17-year-old boy whose ute hit a tree.

The teenager was killed when his ute left the road on the Flinders Highway near Calcium, 50km southeast of Townsville, on Saturday afternoon.

He was alone in the ute and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man from Pormpuraaw has died after his car rolled near his Cape York hometown on Saturday night.

His two passengers, aged in their 30s, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
