Teenage boy remains critical after accident at ropes course

A teenage boy remains in a critical condition after becoming entangled on a high ropes course at a school camp in southeast Queensland.

The 14-year-old student from Brisbane’s Marist College Ashgrove was on a Year 9 camp when the accident occurred just after 10am on Wednesday at Woodford, north of Brisbane.

He suffered facial and neck injuries and was flown to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, where his condition remained critical on Thursday.

His family is by his bedside as workplace health and safety officials try to work out what went wrong.

The college has cancelled the remainder of the camp and is offering counselling to students.

Workplace health and safety staff have attended the scene of the incident and an investigation is underway.
