Two people have been killed after a truck crashed into the back of their ute on a south east Queensland highway.

A semi-trailer was travelling south on the Bruce Highway near the intersection of Raglan Station Road about 11.11pm on Tuesday when it crashed into the back of two utilities.

A boy, 13, and a woman, 40, from one of the utes died at the scene.

The 42-year-old male driver and a 15-year-old boy from the same ute were taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, with the 42-year-old experiencing shoulder pain.

The driver and passenger in the other ute suffered minor injuries.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed a man in his 20s suffered back pain and was taken to Gladstone Hospital, while a teenager suffered a minor head injury and was taken to the same hospital.

Another man was uninjured in the crash and didn’t require transport to hospital.

It’s unclear which person was driving the truck.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
