Teen survives after smashing into tow truck on way home from night shift

A teenage driver is lucky to be alive after crashing into the rear of a stationary tow truck south of Melbourne.

The 19-year-old Tyabb woman had just finished her night shift and was on her way home when she smashed into the bed of the truck as it was waiting to turn right off Coolart Road in the Mornington Peninsula.

Images shared by Mornington Peninsula Police revealed the extent of the damage.

The passenger’s side of the blue Holden Commodore sedan was caved in as a result of the impact.

“It only takes a momentary break in concentration for things to go wrong,” police wrote on their Facebook page.

“Please drive safely.”

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
