A motorist who witnessed the iPhone explosion took the 18-year-old home.

His relatives called an ambulance after examining his burns, according to Maksim.

Doctors diagnosed serious burns to his crotch, right thigh and the lower part of his stomach, and said that he would need to spend at least one week in hospital.

Maksim told local media: “As I understand it, the battery of my iPhone caught fire but I do not know why it suddenly ignited.”

He added that he has no plans to sue the manufacturer.

Netizen ‘Andrey Gruzin’ said: “It could have been worse if the phone had caught fire in his hands.”

‘Sveta Lennik’ commented: “This is how we find out that iPhones can catch fire in your pocket? They should warn customers about this.”
