Teen stable after WA double fatal crash

A 14-year-old girl is in a stable condition in hospital after being injured in a car crash in Western Australia's south that killed a girl of the same age and a 37-year-old woman.

The pair died at the scene after their car hit a tree in Mt Barker just before 1pm on Sunday.

The surviving teen was flown to Royal Perth Hospital. The deaths bring WA's road toll for the year to date to 166, up from 161 in 2015.
