Teen held over bizarre bread truck pursuit south of Sydney

A teenager has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen bread truck south of Sydney.

Officers noticed the truck travelling on Robinsons Road, at Gwynneville, around 6.15am.

It's alleged the vehicle was stolen during a delivery round this morning.

The pursuit lasted around 40 minutes, and road spikes were used to try and stop the teen.

It's understood the driver swerved to avoid them, and drove into the path of a policeman.

The officer was forced to jump out of the way, and suffered minor injuries.

The chase finally ended in Valley View Crescent, at Engadine where the teenager was detained.

He has undergone blood and urine testing, while the police officer has been taken to Wollongong Hospital.
