A teenager has fallen up to four storeys while trying to flee police in a dramatic foot chase on the Gold Coast.
It is understood the 19-year-old male jumped from the top of a car park at Robina Town centre on Saturday afternoon to evade capture.
Officers had been doing routine foot patrols through the shopping centre when they spotted the wanted teen.
He fled police before making the dangerous leap for freedom from the multi-storey carpark.
The offender suffered a broken ankle but kept running before police located him, hiding 300 metres up the road. Officers called an ambulance to transport the man to hospital.
“He was conscious and alert and talking to us and complaining of pain to his ankle, that might be fractured and the pain in his shoulder. That was fairly uncomfortable for him,” Queensland Ambulance Service Paramedic Gavin Fuller said.
The teen was wanted for minor offences and will now spend the night in hospital rather than a cell.
