Teen drops 64kg in dramatic transformation

A teenager who was addicted to eating snacks has dropped 65kg in 12 months after undergoing drastic weight loss surgery.

Michelle Farraj, 19, weighed in at 127kg before doctors suggested she underwent a gastric sleeve – a surgical weight loss procedure which reduces the stomach – in a bid to help her change her life.

After opting for the weight loss surgery in December 2017, Michelle quickly dropped 6kg after sticking to her new diet plan.

She now looks unrecognisable with her new size eight body and has showcased her amazing results online.

Michelle – who is a college student in the US – has now returned to studying after failing her exams due to feeling too self-conscious to attend classes when she was morbidly obese.

“I rarely showed up during secondary school because I was too ashamed and fed up of all the nasty comments and stares.

“I would stay at home and eat anything in sight if I wasn’t eating takeaways, it would be an overload of carbs like pasta and rice dishes, followed by chocolate and sweets.

“And anything with peanut butter, sometimes I would just scoop it out of the tub.”

“One day I woke up and realised I have to change, I was tired of being overweight, my mood was always down, I was angry or upset all the time.

“I went to the doctors for a nutritional appointment and I put my name down for a gastric sleeve.”

The NHS state a healthy BMI for a 5ft female is 57kg, Michelle has now hit this goal by exercising six days a week and eating healthy smaller portions.

“I have had my gastric sleeve since September 2018 and it is the best thing I have ever done, it reduced my hunger massively,” she added.

“Post-operation, I may have been thinner on the outside, but I still had the mind of a 127kg girl, but thankfully the sleeve made me fill up faster.

“Rather than eating sugary cereal, breakfast and granola bars in the morning, I can now only manage one or two eggs.

“I am now super mindful when I eat and don’t even allow myself to have cheat days but one thing, I haven’t given up is peanut butter, but I now have the organic version, in moderation.

“My next mission is to save for skin removal, even though I feel really confident with my new weight and healthier than ever the loose skin is still a massive insecurity – I am as transparent as I can be on social media because I don’t want others to feel ashamed.”

Her new diet plan consists of 1-2 eggs for breakfast, a serving of protein (chicken) and vegetables for lunch and dinner and fruit or nuts for snacks in between.
