Homicide squad detectives believe he was assaulted in an affray between two groups, with several youths arrested and being questioned over the incident.

A crime scene was set-up overnight with clothing found in a nearby park.

Resident George Mikhail, 35, told The Herald Sun he saw police on the scene early on Sunday morning.

“My dad heard sirens at around 4am,” he told the paper.

“Then suddenly he saw 20 policeman arrive. I didn’t hear any gunshots.”
