Teen charged with child sex crimes after family member, 11, gives birth in bathtub

A teen has been charged with a number of offences after it’s alleged an 11-year-old member of his family gave birth to his child in a bathtub.

Norvin Leonidas Lopez-Cante, 17, from St Charles in the US state of Missouri, has been charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy and incest, NBC reported.

The charges come after police claim he admitted to having sex with the girl about 100 times but claimed to not know she was pregnant.

An investigation started after the teen’s father, Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Lopez, brought a baby into hospital on Tuesday, local time. He told police someone had dropped the child off on his front porch.

Documents obtained by NBC claim the baby still had its umbilical cord and placenta attached.

Gonzalez-Lopez was interviewed at his home two days later and he allegedly told authorities his son was the baby’s father and the mother was a relative.

He added he didn’t realise what had been going on until the child gave birth in the tub.

Gonzalez-Lopez was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
