Teen boy dies in two-vehicle crash

A teenage boy has died in a tragic two-vehicle crash near the Victorian-NSW border on Friday night.

The crash happened just before 8pm on the Olympic Highway at Table Top, 20km north of Albury.

Police officers attached to the Murray River Police District arrived on scene to find a Toyota Hilux and a Holden Astra sedan had collided head-on.

“The driver, of the Holden Astra, a boy believed to be aged 17, died at the scene,” the police said on Saturday.

“The three occupants of the Toyota Hilux, a man aged 31, a woman aged 31 and a boy aged 12, were treated at the scene by witnesses and Ambulance paramedics, before being conveyed to Albury Base Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.”

Specialist police examined the scene and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced, the police added.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

The boy’s death marks the 213th life lost on the state’s roads so far this year, compared to 197 from the same period in 2023.
