A disgraced Melbourne teacher's aide who preyed on a 15-year-old boy in her classroom has been jailed after leaving her victim "broken".
Nicole Woods admitted to sexually abusing the student and sending him naked photos of herself over five months in 2016.
"The community generally and parents in particular have every right to expect when children attend school, they will be safe from harm and not preyed upon by those who care for them," Victorian County Court judge George Georgiou said on Tuesday.
The 55-year-old denied her crimes up until the eve of the trial, where her victim was due to testify, in October 2019.
Woods described the abuse as a "snap of the brain".
Before the first assault, the teacher's aide sent her victim a message on Facebook and asked whether he would hang out in her "pod" at the back of the classroom.
She told him she could "play with him" and the next day performed a sex act on the boy. Shortly after, she again assaulted him in the back of the classroom.
Woods abused him up to 25 times over about five months in 2016 and also sent him naked photos of herself.
After the abuse her victim, who is now 19, dropped out of school.
The teen was a talented sportsman and played both cricket and football, but is no longer involved in sport. He is also unable to work and is on a disability payment.
"I'm broken and I don't know how to fix me," he previously told the court.
Woods was using 1.6 grams of ice a week at the time of the assaults, spending $1000 per week on drugs and alcohol.
The woman escaped two abusive relationships and was in "emotional turmoil" when she preyed on the teen.
But the judge said it was clear the woman sought to blame her victim and didn't fully appreciate the enormity of her offending.
She was jailed for four years and two months and must serve at least two-and-a-half years before becoming eligible for parole.
The disgraced teacher's aide has also been put on the sex offenders register.
