Teacher charged with sex attacks on pupils

A man has been charged with sexually assaulting several students aged five and six at a school in Sydney's east in the 1980s.

The 68-year-old man, a teacher at the Vaucluse school at the time of the alleged attacks, was arrested on Tuesday at a home in Bullaburra near the Blue Mountains.

He was charged with sexual assault (category 3) - person under 16 years of age and six counts of sexual assault (category 4) - assault and act of indecency person under 16 years of age.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Penrith Local Court on Wednesday.
