Target's kind gesture amid coronavirus pandemic

Target stores are rewarding first responders with a day of discounts to thank them for their hard work during the coronavirus pandemic and the devastating Australian bushfire season.

In an email to Target customers sent out on Wednesday evening, it states all first responders will receive 15 per cent off storewide in all Target locations on Thursday July 25.

“This is the industry’s way of thanking Australian medical and health workers, police, and firefighters for their hard work and dedication in keeping us safe during COVID-19 and the bushfires,” the email read.

Target said the discount was not only to thank Australia’s heroes but also to celebrate first responders day.

To be eligible for the discount, the retailer has asked customers to show ID that identifies their position, or wear their uniform in store.

Target deems first responders as medical health workers including doctors, nurses, paramedics and ambulance staff, firefighters and all law enforcement officers.

The offer excludes giftcards, charity bags and gaming consoles.
