Target recalls popular summer essential amid safety fears

With December not far away, Target has issued a product recall for a range of popular summer essentials because they could pose a safety risk.

The retail giant has warned customers that the sole on some of its thongs presents a potential “slip hazard”.

The men’s Piping Hot Wave thongs “have not been made in accordance with Target’s quality standards,” the company said in a statement.

“The thong sole surface of these batches may present a slip hazard,” it stated in a product safety recall notice issued on Friday.

Customers who have purchased the thongs, which have been on shelves from November last year to September this year, are advised to stop wearing the footwear and return them to the store for a refund.

“We recommend you stop using the product and return the product to a Target or Target Country store as soon as possible, where our team members will provide you with a full refund,” the notice reads.

“A receipt is not required to obtain a refund.”

The safety alert came days after popular infant’s toy Young Ones Light And Sound Guitar was recalled amid choking fears.

Last month Target also issued a recall of its $10 two-way zip baby overalls over concerns the zipper might break off.
