Tammy Hembrow's nightmare nanny ordeal

Tammy Hembrow has pledged to never let anybody but her mother and sisters look after her children again after going through a nightmare nanny ordeal.

The 25-year-old Gold Coast native opened up about the experience on her podcast, Hanging With the Hembrows, where she revealed that her sister, Aimee, set her up with a nanny who flew to LA with her to mind her kids, four-year-old Wolf and three-year-old Saskia, while she attended business meetings.

However, Tammy claims it led to “one of the worst days of her life” in LA airport, which ended with her four-year-old son, Wolf, being taken to the emergency room.

From the offset, Tammy claims the woman was “doing all things wrong” and it became apparent very early that she was “just a fan” who wanted to hang around with the influencer.

“For instance, she came inside one day and she reeked of cigarette smoke. And she had told me she wasn’t a smoker because I don’t want that around my kids,” Tammy said.

“I was like, ‘You smell like smoke’, and she was like, ‘Oh, I quit for this job’. And it’s like, ‘Well, obviously you didn’t quit because you smell like smoke’.”

Tammy went on to say: “All of a sudden when we got over there she said she couldn’t lift anything because she’d a back injury. I was like, ‘well you know I have two little babies that need to be picked up sometimes. I was like I wouldn't have hired you, you know’.”

The star, who has over 10 million followers on Instagram, said things just got worse from there, but she decided to put up with it because she needed the help.

When they got to LA airport on their way back to Australia, Tammy said she asked the nanny to watch the kids while she got their passports out.

“All of a sudden some guy grabs my arm and he was like, ‘Is this your son?’ and I look over and Wolf just has blood like pouring out of his head and I was just looking around to see where the nanny was and her and Saskia were just out of sight,” Tammy said.

The nanny eventually returned and said Saskia had run off and she needed to follow her.

Tammy said she was ‘in a bit of a panic at that stage’ and was ‘getting a bit angry at her’.

The Instagrammer said she had to take Wolf to the emergency room to get him checked out and expected the nanny to come with them but she told her there was no way she was missing the flight.

“At that point I went a bit off at her. I was trying to hold it together but I could not at that point.

“I was bawling crying. I was holding Wolf’s head, Saskia was crying and I had six giant suitcases.”

While Wolf ended up having to get his head glued and the family eventually made their way home, Tammy said the experience has put her off ever getting another nanny.

“All she wanted to do was hang out with me. She was a fan. She would get annoyed when we were over there if I would go do something and I’d be gone the whole afternoon, she’d go ‘Oh I just wanted to talk to you and hang out with you’,” Tammy said.

“I have trust issues now.”
