A Sydney man will remain behind bars for at least two months after allegedly stabbing another man with a nail punch, causing it to lodge in his face.

The incident occurred at a home on Jindabyne Circuit in Woodcroft on Tuesday, when two men - one of whom was 21-year-old Maison Cuevas - arrived to buy an item advertised on social media.

Police allege a fight broke out and the home's 26-year-old male occupant was stabbed by Cuevas with the nail punch, which lodged in his face.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital for surgery to remove the nail punch.

Police arrested three men over the stabbing a short time later in Lalor Park, with Cuevas charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The three men were known to each other.

Cuevas appeared at Mount Druitt Local Court on Wednesday and applied for bail, but it was refused by magistrate Stephen Corry.

He'll return to the same court on April 28.

The other two men have not yet been charged.
