Police are appealing for information after a suspicious fire in Sydney's south caused damage estimated at more than $1 million.

Emergency services were called to a business in Taren Point about 2.15pm on Thursday following reports of a fire, police say.

Several occupants were evacuated from the building and from neighbouring properties.

The blaze was extinguished and no one was injured.

The estimated damage to the building is in excess of $1 million.
