Sunrise's Sam Mac sparks rumours of I'm A Celebrity appearance

The TV presenter is currently in South Africa.

He’s competed on Dancing With The Stars, bared all on The Real Full Monty and narrated First Dates, and now Sam Mac may have his next reality TV show appearance lined up.

The Sunrise presenter’s recent Instagram post has led some followers to believe he’ll be appearing on the ninth season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! later this year.

Sam has been spending the week in South Africa for Sunrise where he has already hand-fed giant elephants and tried a cocktail mixed with elephant dung.

He also shared a photo on social media of himself meeting a lion in its natural habitat while on safari, which he called “a dream come true”.

“Genuine bucket-list moment!” he captioned the snap. “An unforgettable experience you can only really do over here (or possibly at Taronga Zoo).”

While plenty of Sam’s followers said the post was “epic”, “unreal” and “amazing”, others guessed there was a hidden meaning behind it.

“Are you going into I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! on Ten?” Miguel Maestre, who won season six, commented alongside laughing emojis. “Love ya mate.”

“I wondered the same!” another follower replied. “Good mate Dr Chris could share some hints and tips.”

The upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity, hosted by Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris, is expected to air in April. Although fans would love for Sam to appear on the Channel Ten series and compete for $100,000 to be donated to his chosen charity, it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon as he is contracted with Channel Seven.

Chris Brown joins Seven

Sam’s post comes shortly after it was announced that Chris Brown had signed a deal with Channel Seven and will join the network in July.

Chris, who has worked for Channel 10 since 2008 presenting Bondi Vet, The Living Room, I’m A Celebrity and The Dog House Australia, began his TV career on Seven in 2003 with Harry’s Practice.

“We are very pleased to welcome Chris back to Seven. It’s been too long," Seven West Media Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, James Warburton, said in the statement.

“Chris is one of the most popular and recognised people on Australian TV, bringing warmth, intelligence and a great sense of humour to everything he does. We can’t wait to have him on board and to announce the great new content he will star in.”

Chris added he “can't wait to sink [his] teeth into some exciting new projects”.
