Mark Hamill Uses the Force to Reveal Honorary Street in San Diego

Hundreds of people gathered on July 30 in San Diego, California, to watch Mark Hamill unveil a street honorarily named after him.

The street is located at a residential intersection in Clairemont. Hamill, the actor who played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, lived in San Diego in his youth, until his family moved to Virginia.

Councilman Chris Cate also surprised Hamill with an additional recognition: San Diego proclaimed July 30 as Mark Hamill Day.

Shawn White, who attended and filmed the event, told Storyful that fans asked Hamill to use the “Force” to unveil his street sign, but the cover of the sign fought back. White continued by saying, “even the Last Jedi was no match for the new street sign!” Credit: Shawn White via Storyful
