Sunshine Coast man FINED after parking in his own driveway
A Queensland man is furious after he returned home to find a $94 ticket on his car... which was parked in his own driveway.
Reese Gerhard, who lives in the Sunshine Coast suburb of Birtinya, was slapped with the hefty fine on Sunday for 'restricting access to the driveway'.
"We're parked in our driveway, so how can we be obstructing access to our driveway?" asked Reese when speaking to Kochie and Sam this morning.
The local Council isn't backing down, but this fine has opened up a can of worms for them...
They say that they technically own the land, so can rightfully fine anyone who blocks access to the footpath. However, if they own the land, why are residents responsible for the upkeep of the nature strip?
