Samantha is the co-host of Australia’s number one breakfast show, Sunrise.
Prior to this she anchored the hugely successful Weekend Sunrise for 7 years.
During her 11 years as a journalist with the 7 Network she has worked on the road as a news reporter. She’s also anchored the morning, afternoon and 6pm bulletins, hosted Today Tonight, The Morning Show & regularly files stories for the network’s premier public affairs program Sunday Night.
Prior to 7, Sam was the Chief Political Correspondent for SKY News in the Canberra Press Gallery.
During her 16 years in the Australian media she has covered many major breaking news events including; the start of the Iraq War, the 2002 Bali bombings & the Canberra bushfires. She travelled to Bali numerous times to report on the Schapelle Corby trial and the Bali 9. She was also sent to cover the unrest in East Timor. She covered the Lismore floods, The Queensland floods, the Cronulla riots, the ‘Black Saturday’ bushfires and the New Zealand Mine disaster, for which she and her team won the 2011 Logie for ‘Best News Coverage.’
She’s hung from a helicopter over crocodile infested billabongs in the Top End, powered a jet- ski through shark infested waters off the SA coast, ridden camels & driven road trains – all in the name of getting the story.
Sam’s covered elections, federal budgets and more Labor leadership spills than she cares to remember.
She is regularly sent to chat to celebrities including Matt Damon, Kylie Minogue, Daniel Radcliff, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock, Sting, Steve Carell, Buzz Aldrin, JJ Abrams, Chris Pine & Russell Crowe to name a few.
She’s even interviewed Michael Parkinson!
Sam’s followed royal tours by Princess Mary and the Queen and never misses the Melbourne Cup.
In 2011, Sam was a contestant on ‘Dancing with the Stars’. She came 4th.
Sam graduated from Charles Sturt University, Bathurst with a Communications Degree – majoring in Broadcast Journalism, with minors in Marketing & American Politics.
Sam grew up on a sheep & cattle property near Adaminaby in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

Meeting fascinating people.
Who do you most admire?
My parents. They worked so hard to give us kids so many great things in our early years. Like a terrific education.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Sunglasses – I have so many pairs.
What is your biggest regret?
Not doing an internship in the White House after I finished university (I have a minor in American Politics).
What is your greatest achievement?
Probably getting this Sunrise job, after working as a journo for 16 years.

Food – you can’t beat a BBQ and salad outside with friends. Drink – champagne of course!
Do you have any nicknames? How did you get them?
Sammy (from my family) - Sammy the Seal (from pretending to be a seal, sliding in the bath and cutting my chin open as a kid) – My mother calls me Sammy-mantha.
