New Sunday services for town park and ride scheme

A Sunday service is being reintroduced for a park and ride scheme, as part of an attempt to increase usage of public transport.

The service in Stratford-upon-Avon will resume from 24 March, according to Warwickshire County Council.

It means buses will now run seven days per week, starting at 10:00 on Sundays and at 07:30 Monday to Saturday and finishing at 18:28 all week.

The council said it was ideal for visitors and would help reduce congestion in the town centre.

Councillor Jan Matecki, portfolio holder for transport and planning, said: “Taking so many cars out of the town centre has added environmental benefits for the local area of reducing car congestion and carbon emissions.”

Parking for the scheme is located off Bishopton Lane, near to the roundabout with the A46 (T) and the A3400 Birmingham Road.

It contains more than 700 parking spaces as well as several charging points for electric vehicles.

The extended service is expected to run for six months until Sunday 29 September, the council said.
