Princes William and Harry regret last ‘rushed’ phone call with Diana
Twenty years since the death of Princess Diana, her children Prince Harry and The Duke of Cambridge are still haunted by the last phone they had with their mother on the day she died.
The boys were with family at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and were eager to continue playing with their cousins when Diana phoned from Paris.
“The very last memory that I have is a phone call,” William said in an emotional interview to air this weekend on Seven’s Sunday Night.
“Harry and I were just in a desperate rush to say goodbye, you know, see you later.
“That phone call sticks in my mind quite heavily.”
Harry was only 12 years old at the time.
“All I do remember is probably, you know, regretting for the rest of my life how short the phone call was,” he said.
“The things I would’ve said to her if I had even the slightest inkling that her life was going to be taken that night.”
For the first time since Diana’s death 20 years ago, William and Harry open up about their childhood and the enduring influence their mother had on their lives.
