Grandmother recalls horrific car accident that left her trapped for 11 hours

After a horrifying car accident on an isolated country road, it was a race against time to save grandmother-of-five Melissa Jones.

Trapped in her wrecked car and suffering critical injuries, Melissa had no idea where she was.

"I couldn’t feel my legs, I was covered in blood," she tells Sunday Night in an emotional interview to air this weekend.

Melissa Jones spent hours trapped in her vehicle while police searched frantically trying to find her.

Melissa’s only lifeline – her mobile phone – was quickly running out of battery.

But without knowing where she was in a vast search area of 300 square kilometres, how did police and SES workers find her?

Sunday 8:30pm, Sunday Night's new reporter Matt Doran reunites Melissa with her rescuers as she tells her incredible story of survival.

Sunday Night airs after House Rules on Channel 7.
