Angela Jay recalls moment she was stabbed, doused in petrol by Tinder date

When Angela Jay matched with Paul Lambert on dating app Tinder, he appeared to tick all the right boxes.

He was tall and charming with a broad smile to match, but behind that smile was a dark history of stalking and violence.

In an exclusive interview to air this Sunday night, Angela recalls the terrifying chain of events that left her fighting for her life after she ended their six-week relationship.

“He wanted to destroy me,” Angela tells Melissa Doyle. “I had to try to get away so I made a run for it.”

Barely escaping with her life, Angela rushed to safety in the arms of her neighbour, Steve.

“I heard her scream and I knew there was something horribly wrong,” Steve tells Sunday Night.

Police followed Paul 150kms north of Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour.

As Angela lay bleeding on the floor of her neighbour’s garage, her attacker had already fled, sparking a wild police chase that ended near Coffs Harbour, about 150km away.

“I didn’t die for a reason,” the young doctor says in an emotional interview.

Angela’s remarkable story of survival and courage airs Sunday 8.30 on Channel 7.
