Witness the moment a child is rescued from a Thai brothel

Secret cameras have captured the dramatic rescue of a 15-year-old girl from a Thai brothel by an Australian organisation working to end the underage sex trade.

In a special investigation to air on Sunday Night, Denham Hitchcock follows a team of agents from the Destiny Rescue group through a raid they have conducted hundreds of times.

Destiny Rescue has extracted 1300 girls from the sex trade and offered then sanctuary, education and support.

Australians who have holidayed in Thailand will have seen it or sensed it — appallingly, many participate in it.

But when Aussie tradie Tony Kirwan saw the exploitation rampant in Thailand’s $6 billion sex industry he didn’t turn a blind eye. He decided to end it, one child at a time.

"There’s a lot of westerners coming here, specifically to have sex with the nationals and the people that have the authority to do something aren’t doing enough," Kirwan says.

"I can imagine one of my daughters there and i've got to stop it."

"None of these ever said 'I want to be a prostitute."

Tony sold his electrician business, moved his family to Bangkok and committed himself to rescuing underage girls from sex slavery and human trafficking in 2001.

In the episode to air November 15, Tony and his crack team reveal how months of precise planning are put into rescuing a child and shutting down a brothel with over 150 workers.

Their target has a number not a name but with the help of Tony's team her life could change forever.

Awaiting her is a safe house, an education and a chance to be a teenager.

"Hopefully [it] will be the switching point for her to go from a life of slavery and abuse and horrible things happening to her, to you know, freedom and pursuing some real dreams that she's had her whole life."
