Mike Willesee's Paleo challenge: The results

Pete Evans has hit back at the Dieticians Association of Australia over criticism of his Paleo diet experiment with Mike Willesee and revealed Mike's 10-week progress.

Following the first part of Mike Willesee's Paleo’ journey on Sunday Night, we received a letter from the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) criticizing the program.

Mike sat down with member and nutritionist Matt O'neill to discuss their own bias — the fact that the DAA is sponsored by big multinationals including Nestle.

"It’s like that around the world. The dieticians association in different parts of the world, in the USA, in the UK, in Australia. They are partly sponsored by multi-national food corporations," Pete told Sunday Night.

"McDonalds, I agree with you totally and I think that should change most definitely," Matt O'Neill said.

"I agree that's a problem, that's a problem, if you are getting sponsorship from dairy, and you are getting sponsorship from breakfast cereals."

"I guess the biggest thing is that [Paleo] cuts out things that I'd want you to keep in your diet, like, for example, legumes, fibre, protein," he says.

Pete Evans says for him, it is about sharing his own success with others who might not know how to change their health — like Mike.

"This is not a money making exercise for us. I am in a unique position hosting Australia’s number one TV show on the number one channel."

"It would be easy for me to keep my head down and do what I do for my children, for my family… but nothing changes unless you stand up and speak the truth"

"I am speaking the truth Mike, it is as simple as that."

Meanwhile, Mike Willesee has reached the end of the 10-week Paleo challenge and admits it hasn't been smooth-sailing.

He kept video diaries weekly to show others his hones experience cutting out sugar, grains and caffeine.

"The closer I get to the finish the more I think of what comes after and can I keep it up because yeah it is really got to be more than just what do you do at meal time, it is part of your life," Mike said in his video diary.

"I haven’t felt better in a long, long time, the added bonus is that I can now walk freely,

"So will I stick with Paleo? It's working for me, 10 weeks is just the first chapter."
