Sunday Night farewells Chris Bath

Veteran journalist Chris Bath has hosted her final show for Sunday Night after an incredible 220 episodes.

Chris Bath decided to step away from her news reading, reporting duties and hosting roles after 20 years with the Seven Network.

She has been with Sunday Night since the show's inception in 2009, originally co-hosting with Mike Munro.

"My favourite part of working on the show revolves around the people who make it work so well. It takes great people to build a show as successful as Sunday Night," Chris said.

"I love the brilliant team we've assembled over the years, media professionals, no matter what their role in the show, all at the top of their game and dedicated to great story telling.

"Then there are the amazing people who trust us to tell their stories. Without them, we don't have a show."

Chris has reported on some of Sunday Night's biggest stories — presenting a chilling expose on Allison Baden-Clay's murder and interviewing Julia Gillard on the cusp of her Prime Ministership.

She also covered entertainment with celebrities including Miley Cyrus and followed the stories of inspiring Aussie battlers – like her own father who suffered a massive stroke in 2009.

"I can't give you a favourite story. They've all been so different and knowing how much work goes into each one, I'm very proud of our team every week when they go to air," She said.

Chris began her career in media as a cadet reporter and newsreader at Sydney's Radio 2UE before moving to regional television at Prime in Albury.

In 1991, NBN Television in Newcastle made Chris one of Australia's youngest presenters on metropolitan television and she remained an anchor at NBN for five years before joining Seven News in Sydney in 1996.

"We always have a laugh during the record for the show. The studio is in an atrium, so reflections from outside on the Sunday Night set often force delays. It provides a lovely opportunity to clown around with the crew," She said of hosting Sunday Night.

“This has been a very big decision [to leave]."

“I'm very grateful for the past wonderful 20 years at Seven."
