Is Bill Cosby a serial rapist?

Four women have revealed details of their rape allegations against comic icon Bill Cosby.

The former sitcom star has been painted in a whole new light this past year, accused of drugging and molesting as many as 40 women during his career.

A lawyer representing some of the women has called Cosby the worst alleged serial offender in US history.

Four victims spoke exclusively to Sunday Night about Cosby's alleged crimes, and their stories are all startlingly similar and chilling.

Victoria Valentino was becoming a well-known model and folk singer when Cosby was hitting his primetime stride in the 1960s.

One night she went out to dinner with him and a mutual female friend where she says they were both drugged and taken back to a hotel room by Cosby.

"He put a pill down next to my wine glass and he said um ‘Here, take this you’ll feel better’ so, I was in that place where sure I’d like to feel better, yeah. So I took the pill," She told reporter Denham Hitchcock.

"He was looking down at her very intently with this, I mean he looked like a hawk."

"It became very obvious, he was starting to get an erection and …then I realised he was going to rape her while she was unconscious."

Valentino said in order to protect her friend, who was unconscious, she tried to draw the star's attention away while barely conscious herself.

"He raped me."

"In those days socially and legally who would have believed me? You know single white mother of a black child, a playboy center fold, up against a powerful wealthy television star?”

Then, in 1985, Cosby allegedly took another victim who would refuse to stay quiet.

Barbara Bowman was an aspiring actress when her agent set up a meeting with the comedian in his New York home.

I took a couple of sips of my wine next thing I know for sure is I'm up in that bathroom and I’m throwing up and I'm not dressed."

"I was in the middle of this knowing that I was being raped but it was like my mind had shut off. He drugged me and he raped me” Bowman said.

Gloria Allred is one of many lawyers representing women who claim to have been assaulted by Cosby and says the list of victims is long.

"If he is a sexual predator, he’s one of the worst in this nation’s history...The number of women is astounding."

"Every day someone is contacting me about what happened to them. I have a chart it’s getting bigger and bigger and bigger all the time. . I have never seen anything like this in the 39 years I’ve been practicing law."

But due to the US statute of limitations, these women may never have their day in court with the comedian.

All of the allegations against Cosby so far are about offences that occurred in 2004 or before. That means that the statutes of limitations for civil cases have passed, even though laws vary by state and we don't know the locations of all of the alleged assaults.

However, last month Nevada extended it’s statute of limitations for sexual assault from four years to 20 so there may be similar changes in other states.
