Australian in Paris: "It could have been any of us"

An Australian woman living in Paris has shared the moment she realized her two friends had been killed in the Paris attacks.

Australian musician Emilie Gassin was was living her dream in Paris, then terror struck in the heart of Emilie’s community and took two of her mates.

In this powerful and compelling Sunday Night exclusive, Emilie recounts the harrowing events of the night, the frenzied efforts to find her friends and heartbreaking discovery that they had been killed in separate attacks.

"I think we were all shocked because it could have been any of us," she says in the exclusive interview.

"I think none of us really believed what was happening."

She reveals how she is helping others come to terms with their loss through her music.

Sunday Night’s Melissa Doyle also sheds new light on the events that unfolded inside the Bataclan concert hall with a survivor who recounts for the first time her desperate efforts to elude gunmen and stay alive.

In the episode to Air November 22, German pianist Davide Martello also speaks about his spontaneous performance outside the Bataclan theatre following the attacks, which captured the world's attention.

Crowds swarmed around the gifted pianist outside the music venue on Saturday morning as he played a tearful rendition of John Lennon's 'Imagine' in tribute to those who died in the attacks.
