Is this Andrew Chan's last message?

A video diary of Bali Nine death row prisoner Andrew Chan talking about how 'precious' life is has been revealed.

It was recorded after he watched six other inmates be taken for execution by firing squad on January 18 — the same fate that awaits him and fellow inmate Myuran Sukumaran.

The video aired in an exclusive report by Sunday Night reporter Mike Willesee.

"Um, my name is Andrew Chan. It is a day, pretty much a few hours after the execution, six innocent lives... I guess what runs through my head is how precious life really is, that all we can do about the moment we live for, I guess sometimes you kind of gotta think what does it take to get a second chance," he says to the camera.

"People get second chances within their lives on the outside but how much can you get when you’re a convicted criminal?" Chan says.

The report on the two men featured an intensely personal account of Willesee's time spent with the men as well as an exclusive revelation from Sukumaran.

Sukumaran admits that he knew the identity of the drug group's ringleader 'Mr Big' and tried to trade information to beat the death sentence but was rebuffed.

He said he also feared for his family if he spoke out.

"We tried with the police to get some sort of co-operation thing but there weren’t really like that was our only card that we had to play," Sukumaran said.

"They wouldn’t and then the lawyers advised us not to go that way"

Willesee says he believes condemned Bali Nine ringleaders Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran have become ‘two decent human beings’.

"What I observed during the time I was there was the respect and influence they had with not only other inmates but also the guards," Willesee said

"These young Australians had come so far. Rehabilitated, reformed, call it what you like. For me, they’d become decent human beings."

Chan and Sukumaran are currently awaiting confirmation of their execution date and all attempts to negotiate or intervene by the Australian government have been unsuccessful.
