End of the world

So-called Doomsday preppers, are hard at work across the globe planning for the end of the world.

One investor in the US has sunk money into building super-bunkers outside Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Outside Australia, private armies are being amassed and heavily armed survivalists are burrowing into remote mountainsides believing the Apocalypse is nigh.

According to the Mayan calendar the trigger for this will take place at the end of 2012 and the preppers are not going to go down without a fight.

One such group has bunkered down in Alaska and is planning its last stand deep in the wilderness.

What is not clear is who or what the group is fighting against. The group says it could be Muslim terrorists, extra-terrestrial ‘zombies’, or simply a cataclysmic natural disaster.

One thing is for sure, there is serious money to be made from Doomsday planning, even at this late stage.
