Sugar giant Wilmar to face prosecution

Sugar giant Wilmar has again failed to dodge prosecution over the death of a worker crushed by a cane bin at its Proserpine mill.

Workers' Compensation Regulator Simon Blackwood pursued a criminal charge against Wilmar over the death of John Erikson in 2012, but that was put on hold as Wilmar fought the move in the courts.

Queensland's Court of Appeal on Tuesday dismissed Wilmar's latest bid to avoid prosecution.
