Studio 10 announces new host for 2020

Studio 10 has announced a new panelist is set to join the team in 2020.

Perth news anchor Narelda Jacobs will be welcomed into the Studio 10 family, acting as a roving country reporter, sharing stories from around the nation.

She’s set to join host Sarah Harris, journalist Joe Hidebrand, entertainment editor Angela Bishop, news reporter Natarsha Belling, presenter Denise Drysdale and media stalwart Kerri-Anne Kennerley on the popular daytime show.

Narelda has been at the helm of 10 News First for the past ten years and has been with the station for over 19 years.

The network’s first indigenous news presenter, this year also saw her co-host the broadcast of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade.

According to a statement released by Network 10, Narelda will fit in seamlessly with the rest of the panel and has “lent her credibility, expertise and quick wit to the program over the past few years.”

“I cannot wait to join the Australian conversation every morning alongside my fabulous co-hosts,” Narelda said in a statement.

“While approaching my 20th year with the network, I’ve felt the pull for new challenges, so bring on Studio 10 in 2020!”

While she’s clearly excited about the move, she also admitted that it’s bittersweet to leave her Perth work family behind.

“I’ve been privileged to see just how strong the community spirit is in the West. Living alongside so many generous and talented people, makes it one of the best places on earth,” she said.

Narelda’s first day on the job will be on Monday, January 13, 2020 and Channel 10 has confirmed her replacement for 10 News First in Perth will be announced “in due course”.

The news comes after the shock announcement last year that Studio 10 favourite Jessica Rowe was leaving the show to spend more time with her family.

Tearing up on air the 47-year-old said: "I want to be a more present mother for my girls, Allegra and Giselle. They need their mum.”

"I want to be there in the mornings for them, to take them to school ... It is something that I need to do, it is as simple as that."
