Omaha Northwest High School was briefly on lockdown following the shooting
Authorities in Nebraska are investigating a shooting that took place at an Omaha high school that left a 15-year-old boy gravely injured.
Omaha Police responded to a shooting at the Omaha Northwest High School, they said in a statement on the afternoon of Tuesday, Sep. 10.
“There is reported to be one victim at this time,” Omaha Police said in their statement on X (formerly Twitter).
“There was a 15-year-old shot and we took a suspect into custody,” Omaha police officer Michael Pecha confirms to PEOPLE. “Students are being let out of the school at this time.”

The shooting was reportedly an isolated incident between two students, authorities said, per WOWT, KETV and the Associated Press.
An investigation is ongoing, police said.
