The star is currently preparing for his stage role in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and shared a photo on Instagram as he showcased his new style.

“Shades of grey,” he wrote in the caption, with former Strictly co-star Graziano Di Prima commenting: “Looking good man!”

“Looking good as a silver fox, presumably getting ready for Hugo? Question is, are you going Ginger for Loco?” added another fan, whilst one user commented: “You certainly pull it off, distinguished is the word I'll use.”

Clifton is set to play Hugo in the UK tour of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, with the star releasing a statement following the announcement of his casting, saying: “I'm really excited to be joining the UK Tour of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie after being involved in the movie.

“It's inspiring, uplifting and infectious and I can't wait to jump into Hugo/Loco Chanelle's heels across the country. I'm proud to be part of a show that carries such an important message and celebrates everyone for who they are.”

The star also revealed that he was breaking in his heels ahead of the production, writing: “Everbody’s Talkin About … @jamiemusical. Gave my Loco Chanelle practice heels a run out this evening presenting Best Choreography award to @mattcoledance @whatsonstage awards @thelondonpalladium.”

Whilst Clifton is preparing for a role on stage, co-star Nikita Kuzmin is currently in the Celebrity Big Brother house, with the dancer revealing that he sought permission to join the series from Strictly producers.

“To be fair, I also asked out of respect,” he recalled. “They're [Strictly] the ones who brought me to this country and gave me all these opportunities. I feel almost like they raised me, in a way.”

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
