Strictly Come Dancing judges Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas finally squashed their beef after locking horns over Montell Douglas and Johannes’ dance. Douglas and Johannes performed the Waltz to Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You as part of Icons Week.

However, as Horwood began his critique about Douglas’ frame, Ballas confronted the judge, saying: "Craig! Oh my goodness, I don't agree with you at all! What are you doing?!”

Despite Motsi Mabuse’s attempt to defuse the situation, Ballas added: "He had that beautiful frame, he dropped his arms, she looked at him willingly ready to go with soft movement, with beautiful footwork. Improving. What more do you want?"

To which Horwood replied: “A choice, darling, a choice!”

But by the time the results show came around, it looked like the pair had squashed their beef.

In conversation with the judges, Claudia Winkleman brought up the fight, saying: “You and Shirley quite a ruckus about Montell’s frame, who is right?”

To which Horwood immediately replied: “I am. I think if you’re [...] doing the ballroom moves, then you should be in frame; like a proper frame. It looked as though she'd forgotten about her frame.”

But Ballas remained steadfast in her response, adding: “They dropped the frame so ever so slightly, and then picked it up again, and showed the versatility between dropping the frame and bringing the frame up. And let's face it, you're always telling me, ‘Less technique, and listen to the music,’ you're always telling me that, and the music told that story, in my opinion”

Horwood quipped in reply to this: “I’m glad I helped you,” but as the pair shared a hug, it was clear that they had buried the hatchet.

To celebrate icons week, the professionals performed a dance in tribute to Beyonce. Following this was an exciting pop performance by the music group Dear Alice.

Meanwhile, the wins just kept coming for JB Gill. After topping the leaderboard on Saturday with his score of 39, he was told by presenter Claudia Winkleman that he had officially beaten JLS bandmate Ashton Merrygold, who competed on Strictly back in 2017.

“Obviously, I'm still sad [...] that he went out when he did, but I'm very happy that I'm through,” he said.

Despite the framing quibbles, Montell and Johannes were unanimously saved by the judges once they found themselves in the dance-off. But that meant that it was the end of the line for hockey player Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin, who became the latest duo to be eliminated from the dancing competition.

“I’m gutted because I do feel like I still have more to give,” Quek said.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday 9 November at 6:35pm.
