New Street still busiest station outside London
Birmingham New Street remains the busiest railway station outside of London, new figures show.
About 33.3 million passengers entered and exited the station between April 2023 and the end of March 2024, according to the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).
Coventry was the West Midlands' second most popular station, with 6.5 million visits. Birmingham Moor Street and Wolverhampton completed the top four with 6.4 and 4.8 million entries and exits respectively.
Polesworth in Warwickshire was the fourth least used station in the country with only 118 people entering and exiting in a year.
London Liverpool Street retained its overall title of Britain's busiest railway station with an estimated 94.5 million entries and exits.

Shropshire had two of the least used stations in the region with Hopton Heath having only 1,292 entries and exits and Broome railway station 1,300.
Bearley station in Warwickshire had 1,766 entries and exits, while Bucknell, again in Shropshire, had 3,264.
