Steve Martin & Martin Short Abruptly Cancel Upcoming Shows Amid 'Devastation'
As the Palisades Fire and other wildfires in California rage on, thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes and multiple events are being rescheduled—including Steve Martin and Martin Short's upcoming shows.
On Wednesday, Jan. 8, Martin and Short canceled two upcoming performances of their touring live show, The Dukes of Funnytown! Fans on social media were disappointed, but their first concern was the safety of the comedic duo.

Martin shared the unfortunate news with a photo of the fire on Instagram.
"Unfortunately, due to the fires in California, Marty and I must cancel our upcoming shows in Florida this Friday, 1/10 and Saturday 1/11. Everyone is alive, but there is devastation," the Father of the Bride star wrote.

Martin's followers encouraged him to keep safety a priority.
"Please stay safe, you guys! You are national treasures! ❤️," declared one fan.
"Our hearts go out to you all. We pray for your safety and strength in this difficult time," a second person added.
"My kids live near Beverly Hills....praying! Heartbroken for the community they love so dearly!" another fan shared.
As Newsweek reported, over 30,000 people were ordered to evacuate the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles on Tuesday, Jan. 8., with California Governor Gavin Newsom declaring a state of emergency on the same evening. Over 1,000 structures had been destroyed by the fires at that time, according to Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Eugene Levy, Mandy Moore and Mark Hamill are among the celebrities who've spoken out about evacuating so far. Reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag said their home was lost in the blaze.
