The Festival of Lights has returned at a time when everyone could use some glimmer.
Stars marked Diwali on Nov. 12, 2023, coming together to celebrate one of Hinduism's biggest and most significant holidays that honors the triumph of good over evil. The holiday lasts five nights, reaching its peak on day three, and will end on Nov. 14.
Those who celebrate Diwali partake in a number of practices and rituals with different symbolic meanings throughout the span of the holiday. This year, stars like Padma Lakshmi and Mindy Kaling gathered for food and friendship, wearing stunning saris and other traditional items of dress to mark the occasion. See their photos here.
"Is it even Diwali without @falgunishanepeacockindia @falgunipeacock?" Mindy Kaling wrote alongside her glam Instagram snaps. "I love wearing their stunning creations, especially during the festive season. Their talent is matched only by their generosity! And complimenting it all is my perfect @sethicouture jewels. Though he didn't share photos from celebrations, Kal Penn did join Sesame Street's Elmo on Instagram to explain the holiday in a kid-friendly way and wish followers a Happy Diwali.
"Diwali is a time to let light, positivity and happiness into our homes," Penn shared in part.
TV and YouTube host Lilly Singh hosted her annual Diwali celebration with Johnnie Walker, welcoming guests including Terry Crews, Jay Sean and Arjun. She sparkled in a custom ensemble by designer duo Falguni Shane Peacock.
According to Padma Lakshmi's Instagram Stories, her guests enjoyed samosas — and dancing the night away.
