Staff sickness closes northern minor injuries unit
A dedicated minor injuries unit in the north of the Isle of Man has been closed for the day due to "short notice staff sickness", Manx Care has confirmed.
The facility at Ramsey Cottage Hospital usually offers a walk-in service for patients who need treatment for a wide-range of aliments, illnesses and injuries.
The unit, which has also been closed on weekends for a three-month period since 6 July due to staff shortages, is expected to open on Monday.
Until then the health care provider has urged anyone who would normally have used the unit to visit the accident and emergency department at Noble's Hospital, or call 999 in an emergency.
Manx Care said it had been unable to provide the two practitioners required to ensure the "safe provision of patient care" at the northern facility on Friday.
The island's community pharmacies were available to offer support with a range of minor ailments or illnesses, it added.
