Spot the tree snake hiding in this kitchen

Residents of a Sunshine Coast home were shocked when they spotted a slippery visitor in their kitchen, but the same snake has left numerous internet users questioning if they need glasses.

Stuart McKenzie, from The Snake Catcher 24/7 – Sunshine Coast, shared a picture on Facebook of the reptile, asking his followers if they could spot it and determine what species it is.

But many people struggled to find the snake in the image.

“Can’t see it. Should I go to Specsavers?” one person wrote.

“I’ve been to Specsavers and I still can’t see it,” another responded.

“Is this actually visible cause I been looking for ages,” a third Facebook user commented.

Numerous people hazarded a guess anyway.

“Between oven hob and right cupboard in the gap? Carpet python? Small one!” one Facebook user guessed.

At the back of the sink below the window. Coolest part of the kitchen near the stainless steel,” a different person suggested.

While some Facebook users gave up looking, others made light of the situation.

“It’s got its tail in the power point and seems to be biting the kettle,” one social media user joked.

Another person circled the heating elements on the stove and said they had “found a family of four”.

When its location was finally revealed the snake appeared to be darker in the wider image, leaving some thinking it was a red-bellied black snake, a small-eyed snake and possibly a python.

The correct answer though was a common tree snake. And this particular visitor was relatively small, measuring about 80 centimetres in length.
