South Aust driver killed by falling tree

A woman has died when a tree fell on her car as she drove through the Adelaide Hills.

The 59-year-old was driving on Mt Barker Road at Stirling on Wednesday night when the tree came down.

A 26-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

A second car was also hit by a falling branch but the 56-year-old woman behind the wheel was not seriously hurt.

The death takes SA's road toll for 2020 to 76 compared to 95 at the same time last year.
