South Africa’s MK Party Retains Zuma as Leader, Hlophe as Deputy
(Bloomberg) -- Former South African President Jacob Zuma was retained as the leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party, or MKP, which he started late last year, while ex-Judge John Hlophe was reappointed as his deputy.

Floyd Shivambu, formerly the deputy president of the rival Economic Freedom Fighters party, was named as the MKP’s national organizer and will be responsible for policy research and monitoring. The appointments were announced at a media briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday.
Zuma founded the MKP after falling out with the ruling African National Congress. It won 14.6% of the vote in May 29 elections, stripping the ANC of its parliamentary majority and displacing the EFF as the country’s third-largest party.
